What this all means is that the Devil has been invested in this plot for likely at the very least around one decade, though likely much longer due to the nature of the series of events that set Father and Warren on their path. On top of this, the masked man has built himself a vast criminal network, essentially he has the time to firmly established himself. Also by the time Warren encounters him, warren has enough time to grown into a man, (granted it is impossible to say how old warren was at the time of the prequel mission, I believe it says he was 12 at the time of the tutorial mission). I honestly don't recall any dates being given so there isn't really a good way to tell how much time has passed in between scenarios, however we do know that towards the end of that scenario, The Masked Man is created. The plan which for all we know has been in the works since at least the time when Cervantes tells Vasquez to "Follow the Red Star" in the beginning of prequel mission.
I just completed all the scenarios in the main story, so I can only say as much as the next person with the same degree of certainty, but I'll tell you my take on the situation anyway.įrom what I understood there isn't anything particularly special about Warren himself, except that he just happens to be an unwitting pawn of The Stranger's (The Devil, The AC, etc) master plan against purgatory.
